A Day To Remember...But Now For The Right Reasons As Well


As yesterday was the first anniversary of losing Connor...I wanted to make sure that we would be able to remember the day for something else other than those horrible memories of when we got the 'phone call, what he looked like etc.

As 'luck' would have it (I believe that you create your own)...Katie had her first 'sleep over' with some of her old best friends from her old school.

We're an hour's drive away from where we used to live...so it wasn't worth us driving home at 5pm - just to go back for 10am.

So...I booked Lesley and myself into a nice hotel with a pool, jacuzzi, steam room etc.

But...as I wanted to 'create' some NEW memories to REPLACE those 'not-so-very-nice' old ones...I made sure that we did something different.

I booked us into a suite...(with a lounge and dining area)...and the biggest bed that you have ever seen!

The look on Lesley's face was worth the extra money, believe me!

Now...we have both stayed in a few hotel rooms in the past, both at home and abroad...but - they ALL look the same, don't they?

But this suite was more than twice the size of a normal room.

So...do you think that, next year, when we look back to the 20th February...we're going to have some 'nice' memories of that day, in addition to the not so nice ones?

Sure...it will ALWAYS be a day that we won't look forward to.

It will ALWAYS be a day where thoughts about Connor will be at the forefront of our minds.

But now...we will also be able to say..."It doesn't seem like a year ago when we stayed in that nice hotel suite"!

Plus...as we were 'out'...it stopped us from dwelling too much.

So...it IS possible to make something 'good' out of something that COULD have been REALLY terrible.

All it needs is a little imagination...something that YOU most certainly have in abundance!

Remember...life is what YOU MAKE IT to be.

YOU are in CONTROL...never forget that!
